How to Pay Your Bill
You can pay your University of Utah Health bill several ways:
- Online through MyChart
- Online through our Pay as Guest program, if you don't have a MyChart account
- By phone
- By mail
- At any clinic at time of service
- At an online billing consult
We accept all major credit cards. Please pay over the phone or online to use a credit card.

No MyChart Account? That's okay. You can pay your bill online using our Pay as Guest program.

Paperless Billing Available
We automatically enroll everyone who has a MyChart account in paperless billing. This means you'll receive your bills through MyChart. You will no longer receive a paper bill. Paperless billing has many benefits:
- Convenient
- Eco-friendly
- More secure than paper options
You will receive notice of new bills through email and the MyChart mobile app. Update your email in MyChart to receive timely notices.
INSTRUCTIONS TO OPT OUT OF PAPERLESS BILLING
- Log in to your MyChart account.
- Find the Billing section on the MyChart website and mobile app.
- Website: Click "Menu" in the upper lefthand corner of your screen. Scroll down to the Billing section. Select "View & Pay My Bill".
- Mobile App: Tap the blue menu square in the upper lefthand corner. Scroll down to the Billing section. Select "View & Pay My Bill".
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen below the account boxes. You will see this statement: If you would like to receive paper statements, you may cancel paperless billing.
- Click or tap "Cancel paperless billing".
- Confirm your preferences:
- Website: Click "Receive paper statements."
- Mobile App: Tap "Cancel paperless."
Note: Try again in 24 hours if you don't see the opt-out buttons. It may take a day or two to see this option if you have a new MyChart account.

Using MyChart Bill Pay
You can use MyChart for several billing services:
- Pay your bill online
- Enroll in automatic payments
- Access current and past billing statements
Enroll in Automatic Payments
Follow these steps to enroll in automatic payments:
- Log in to your MyChart account.
- Find the billing section:
- Website: Click “Menu” in the upperleft corner of the screen. Scroll down to the Billing section. Select “View & Pay My Bill”.
- Mobile App: Tap the blue menu square in the upper lefthand corner. Scroll down to the Billing section. Tap “View & Pay My Bill”.
- You will see a list of accounts you’re responsible for.
- Accounts with an outstanding balance will show a “Set Up Payment Plan” button. This button is under the “Amount Due” column. Click this button. This button will only appear if your account qualifies for a payment plan.
- You will respond to a few prompts:
- The amount you want to pay each month
- The day of the month you want to make a payment
- Payment method, such as your credit card details
- Select “Save Payment Method”. Click “Continue”.
- You will see a confirmation page outlining your payment details. Select “Start Plan” to finish enrollment.
Accessing Current & Past Billing Statements
You can also access current and past billing statements in MyChart:
- Log in to your MyChart account.
- Find the Billing section:
- Website: Click “Menu” in the upperleft corner of the screen. Scroll down to the Billing section. Select “View & Pay My Bill”.
- Mobile App: Tap the blue menu square in the upper lefthand corner. Scroll down to the Billing section. Tap “View & Pay My Bill”.
- You will see a list of accounts you’re responsible for.
- Click “View Balance Details” for the account you want to view.
- Find the Statements/Letters section:
- Website: You will see a tab labeled “Statements/Letters”. This tab shows all statements by date. Click the envelope icon for the statement date you want to view.
- Mobile App: The tab won’t say “Statements/Letters” until you hover over it. It’s the fourth tab with an icon of green and blue word bubbles. Click the envelope icon for the statement date you want to view.
- If you are using the website, your computer will prompt you to open or save a PDF statement. Click “Open” to view, print, or save the statement. The mobile app will not allow you to view, print, or save your statement as a PDF.

Your bill will arrive at different times depending on your insurance:
- You’ll receive your bill after your insurance processes your claim if you have insurance.
- You’ll receive your bill about 30 days after your visit if you don’t have insurance.
You’ll receive three statements to settle your balance. Your account will be transferred to collections if you don’t pay in full or make a payment arrangement with our billing office.

You'll know we have billed your insurance company when you receive your bill. You will see an insurance payment on your billing statement.
You may pay a deposit or copayment at your visit. A copayment is a set fee you pay for health care services. The amount you pay depends on your insurance coverage.
You will pay your copayment and deductible, if applicable, at your visit. A deductible is the amount you pay before your health plan pays.
Please bring your current insurance card or information to your appointment. This will help us bill your insurance.
Financial Assistance: What If I Can't Pay My Bill?
We offer payment plans for patients who have trouble paying the full balance. Please visit MyChart or contact our patient billing office at 801-587-6303.
You may be eligible for financial assistance if you’re experiencing financial hardship. Please submit an application and include the following documents:
- Copies of paycheck stubs or other income from the past two months
- Current bank statement copy
- Copy of last year’s tax return
- Letter explaining your current financial status
